Americans know "Simpsons" better than the 1st Amendment
Only one in four could name more than one of the five freedoms it upholds but more than half could name at least two members of the cartoon family.Okay, so here is the First Amendment just in case:
About one in five thought the right to own a pet was one of the freedoms...
By comparison, just one in 1,000 people could name all five First Amendment freedoms.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
What exactly does that mean? Here is a link to the Cornell Law School: First Amendment Overview.
