Partying & Politics for women's reproductive rights in Shaker

A friend sent me this invite to "Let's Get Social on Larchmere : A time to Celebrate Who We Are and What We Believe" on June 4th!

I thought I'd pass it on - Looks like fun.

Please join Preterm on June 4th for our "Let's Get Social on Larchmere," a Sunday afternoon of partying and politics to support women's reproductive rights. This event is a collaboration of Preterm, Cleveland's foremost clinic providing safe and legal abortions since 1974, and other community groups and businesses. Activities will run from 12 noon until 4:30 pm. Event proceeds will help Preterm keep our services affordable to all women, regardless of their resources.

You're welcome to join any or all of the festivities. Check Ticket Information for details.

It begins with a champagne buffet brunch at Boulevard Blue from noon until 2pm. Models with a message will introduce you to Larchmere's wearable art.

Between 1 and 4pm stroll the sidewalks to enjoy music, kids' entertainment, concessions, special shopping opportunities at Larchmere merchants, and a sneak prevew of Parade the Circle.

At 3pm join us at Loganberry Books for a reception and dramatization. You’ll have the rare opportunity to hear the voices of women and their families sharing their thoughts and feelings around the decision to terminate a pregnancy. Based on excerpts from journals collected in Preterm’s waiting rooms, this presentation will touch your heart and mind. At the same time, we’ll treat the kids to story hour and a tour of Loganberry’s extensive collection of children’s and illustrated books.

Why the Left is Right - Liberal Quotes

Artists are often the canary in the coal mine.
-- Robert Atkins

One of my greatest pleasures in my writing has come from the thought
that perhaps my work might annoy someone of comfortably pretentious
position. Then comes the realization that such people rarely read.
-- John Kenneth Galbraith

What does it tell us that men's most terrified reaction to the idea
of prison is the fear that women experience all the time?
-- Stan Goff
